Wonder Wednesday: The Leidenfrost effect

At Table Top Inventing, we are always wondering what will happen if you try something – curiosity drives what we do! All of the best inventions are created because someone said “I wonder if…”. In honor of those who ask the great question, we are going to start sharing interesting things we come across that make you say “I wonder…”.

Did you know that when water hits a very hot surface, it can dance on its own vapor? What happens when curious students wonder and take a deep look at how that works? Thanks to Johann Gottlob Leidenfrost who first wrote about this in 1756, we can find out!
